Earn StuffStuff points? No problem for Tim Brown. “It’s fairly easy to get to Level 6,” says Brown, from Phoenix, Arizona. “In fact, it’s possible to get there in a week.”
Whoa! That may seem fast, but Brown says “you don’t have to start with nothing” just because you’ve just started StuffStuff (see Points & Level Stuff
). Life Membership automatically means 20 points — 40 points for Trophy Life Membership. And points pile up PDQ when multiplied by the number of Clubs you’re in — and many StuffStuffers are in two or more Clubs.
Brown joined StuffStuff as a Life Member (20), wrote reviews for four products he already owned (4), answered the interest questionnaire (5) and connected to Facebook (3) and Twitter (2). Then with scores of products that piqued his interest, he liked them on Facebook from StuffStuff (1) and followed them on Twitter from StuffStuff (1). It all added up quickly, meaning he could start having fun.
Brown tested four products, one each in August, November and December of 2012 - and his latest in June 2013:
- Leupold Vangaurd VX-2 Riflescope ($400.00, Level 3), “which helped me bag my first deer,” says Brown (see photo).
- MyTopo Custom Topos and Aerials ($50 credit, Level 2), “which was very useful finding nice coves for bass fishing on Lake Pleasant.”
- Cabelas Alaskan Guide Model Cot Kit Combo ($129.99, Level 2), which “kept me comfortable on an overnight trip to the in-laws.”
- Cabelas Euro Riflescope 3-9X42 ($449.99, Level 6), which “has great light gathering and is very clear in low-light settings.”
Brown says he was OK with the old product-testing program, receiving a product “every nine to 10 months.” But StuffStuff is better because he controls which products he tests. He spends about 30 minutes daily on StuffStuff because “a lot of products aren’t on the market yet,” he says. “It’s nice to see what’s coming and to get the reviews early.”
